‘In brief’ news item from

Veterinary Times September

The UK police National Fraud

Intelligence Bureau (Action

Fraud) has warned of a rise

in the purchase of pets,

particularly puppies, advertised

for sale on online auction

websites. It says fraudsters

claim they are moving abroad

and need to rehome the pets.

Payment is made by money or

bank transfer, but the pets don’t

materialise. Further advance

payments are then demanded

for courier charges, shipping

fees and vet bills.
